Tim Mullin

Tim Mullin

Varsity Head Coach

Tim graduated from Newark College of Engineering (now known as NJIT), where he was Captain of the Ice Hockey team. After graduation, he played for the Newark Brewers and the New Jersey Rockets at a time when those teams were considered semi-pro. During that time he was coached by Jack LeClair, a member of the Montreal Canadiens Stanley Cup championship teams in 1955, 1956, and 1957. Before coming to Ridge, Tim coached for the NJ Devils, Montclair Blues, and Bridgewater Bears youth hockey teams, as well as the Ironbound Youth Hockey Association. The Ridge State Title in 2022-2023 was Coach Mullin's fifth, with the prior 4 in 2021-2022, 2018-2019, 2016-2017, and 2007-2008. This is Tim’s 29th year coaching the Ridge Red Devils.

John Gerke

John Gerke

Varsity Assistant Coach

John graduated from the University of Rhode Island in 2010. While at URI, he was a goaltending coach for the Rhode Island JR Rams Youth Hockey club as well as an integral part of the university's intramural ice hockey program. Growing up, John was a member of the Ridge Junior Devils middle school team and Bridgewater Bears Youth Hockey club. He played for the Ridge Varsity Ice Hockey team and head coach Tim Mullin from 2001 to 2005. During that time, John was in goal for three straight division championships including Ridge High School's first ever ice hockey championship in 2003. He was also the starting goaltender for Ridge's first ever appearance in a State Final in 2004. John is Ridge Hockey's all time wins leader, finishing with a career record of 48- 8- 6.

Josh Filipovits

Josh Filipovits

Varsity Assistant Coach

Josh started his playing career relatively late, at the age of 13 but still played for 4 years (3 on varsity) at Wayne Hills earning the “A” of an assistant captain his senior year. Josh played Club hockey for the NJ Avalanche (18U) for a couple of seasons and another with the NJ Rockets.  Following his High School and Club hockey career, Josh went on to play at Ramapo College where he was one of the founding members of the team. Josh served on the Ramapo College Hockey E-Board for 3 years holding all of the board positions as well as being named an assistant captain his Sophomore season. Josh’s Junior year at Ramapo, the team went 26-1 and won the Metropolitan Collegiate Hockey Conference Championship.  Currently, Josh is a police officer in Basking Ridge.  He has been an officer for about one year and will be serving the town for many years to come.
