The Ridge Junior Devils opened their season with a win over the Randolph Rams, 7 – 3, on Friday, November 17, 2006 at BSA.

Ridge’s first goal of the season was scored three (3) minutes into the first period by 8th grader Jacob Boudreau assisted by  fellow 8th graders Brandon Grogan and Chris Fersini.  Randolph tied it up a few minutes later on a goal by Kyle D’Amore.  Both defenses played well throughout the first period, with the first ending in a 1 – 1 tie.

Not quite half-way into the second period, Ridge went ahead on a goal by Brandon Grogan, assisted by Jacob Boudreau.  With the score 2 – 1 in favor of Ridge, Ted Zarabara took over the Ridge goaltending duties from Matt Manley.  Ridge then added two (2) quick goals in the second period.  Josh Raff, assisted by C.J. Both defenses stepped up in the third period, however, Randolph rallied and scored its third goal about six minutes into the period, making it a tight game at 4 – 3.  7th grader Chris Mastroianni, assisted by Kevin Zhao and Evan Windisch, gave Ridge some breathing room with a goal eight (8) minutes into the third and Jacob Boudreau followed with his second goal of the evening a couple of minutes later, this time assisted by Joshua Raff.  With the score 6 – 3 in favor of Ridge, Matt Killian scored unassisted to round out the scoring and give Ridge the victory.

Shots on goal were virtually even.  Ridge had thirty-two shots while Randolph had thirty-one.  Ridge and Randolph will meet again on Sunday, January 14th at BSA.
